Nelle voci che trattano di opere di finzione, come ad esempio un romanzo o un film, è utile riportare la trama, cioè un riassunto degli eventi raccontati, senza scendere troppo nei dettagli. Si ricorda che la trama non è l'unica parte fondamentale della voce e occorre dare spazio anche ad altre sezioni di approfondimento sull'opera come ad esempio un eventuale recensione (la genesi, il suo impatto culturale e così via).

L'obiettivo della trama è quello di aiutare il lettore a comprendere l'importanza degli eventi raccontati nell'opera o delle azioni compiute dai personaggi. Un'opera di finzione non è necessariamente enciclopedica esclusivamente per gli eventi che racconta: oltre a descriverne la trama, se si dispone di fonti da citare, è bene evidenziarne il significato e l'impatto esercitato sulla cultura e sulla società. La cosa vale per le opere di fiction esattamente come per tutti gli altri generi di voci.

    Cal McAffrey è un veterano della carta stampata, il suo è un giornalismo che va di persona alla fonte, che investiga, si pone domande, nel nome della verità e di una buona storia. Stephen Collins è stato suo compagno di studi e di stanza e ora è un giovane ed ambizioso deputato a capo di un comitato che controlla le spese per la difesa nazionale, in odore di abnormi illeciti.
