Trama:
Durante la sua vita, J. Edgar Hoover è diventato l'uomo più potente di tutti gli Stati Uniti d'America. A capo dell' FBI per circa 50 anni fino alla data della sua morte nel 1972, non si è fermato davanti a nulla pur di proteggere il suo paese. Restando in carica durante i mandati di ben 8 Presidenti e tre guerre, Hoover ha dichiarato guerra a minacce sia vere che immaginarie, spesso infrangendo le regole per proteggere i cittadini americani. I suoi metodi erano allo stesso tempo spietati ed eroici e la sua più grande ambizione era quella di essere ammirato a livello globale. Hoover è stato un uomo che dava grande valore ai segreti - soprattutto a quelli degli altri - e non ha mai avuto paura ad usare le informazioni in suo possesso per esercitare la sua autorità sui leader più importanti della nazione. Consapevole che la conoscenza è potere e che la paura crea le opportunità, ha usato entrambe per ottenere un’influenza senza precedenti e per costruirsi una reputazione che era formidabile e intoccabile.
